english is not my friend

Went to the emergency room Tuesday evening. my body musta figured the pain in my neck and shoulders wasn't enough as it began attacking my lower back, chest and head.
I suppose being snapped back into your car seat after impact tends to have that effect... unfortuneatly it took 2 days for the pain to settle deep into my upper body.......
who knew?
So here we are, 4 days later... all is well.... I feel great and I'm a wonderful liar....
.... I only feel great when I'm drugged up on Ibuprofen.... its the rebel in me..
Sadly enough, it is not my spine nor the fact that my brain could be swelling inside my head as we speak that worries me...
no....
what worries me is my ability to speak coherently.... my words and sentences seem to get jumbled up causing me to sound horrendously handicapped in grammar.
For some strange reason whenever I open my mouth, I get confused and can't decide on what to say until it becomes a combination of two or more things....
example
In normal conversation one can use either of the following:
"HEY! Thats not too shabby!"
-or-
"HEY! Thats pretty nifty!"
After this entire whiplash ordeal I find myself getting confused at the last minute while stating:
"HEY! Thats pretty shafty!"
which then leaves me looking not only like a stupid fool... but an easy stupid fool....
I've always prided myself in believing I had a knack for the english language...
and now, well ... I'm afraid I'm losing even that.
I can deal with the headaches, I can deal with the backpain... I can even deal with my brain swelling until it poors out of my ears..... but Lord, God Almighty.........
... spare me my quick wit....
often times its all i've got....
and even that isn't saying too much....
Oh woe is me.......
